Yes, use it or face degradation, the more you use your brain, the faster it works. People who are more active towards mental challenges are also mentally sharp at all ages and few things are helpful for this purpose like studying, playing games (not too much), learning a new language, listening to lectures.

According to Duke University, exercises called Neurobics challenge the brain. Our 5 senses help in learning so use them to exercise your mind, if you use your right hand more then try to use your left hand for some tasks. Choose a new route to your office or blindly try to identify food by taste.
